Alicia officially started her first day of 1st grade yesterday.  It was really only orientation so "I" wouldn't call it her first day.  We met her new principal who seems awesome and full of energy.  He set's his acedemic standards high for the kids and gave them each his personal promise that he would get them through any challenges they face in school.  He also introduced the new math curriculum that is being put into place this year for K-5.  It's called "Investigations in numbers, data and space".  Has anyone had any experience with this?  It's a state of the art curriculum and sounds very promising.  It is designed to make kid's problem solvers.  I'm anxious to learn more about it.

So today, Alicia was off to her first "real" day of school, as she put's it.  She had a smile of anticipation on her face unlike yesterday.  I'm hoping she's enjoying her day.  As for me,  I better start making use of my "peace" time and get some work done!
